Common Panasonic Repair Issues
Panasonic inverter microwaves are by far the most common Panasonic appliance we service in Denver. The inverter technology that makes these microwaves desirable also introduces a unique failure mode. Unlike conventional microwaves that use a simple transformer to power the magnetron at full power in on-off cycles, Panasonic inverter microwaves use a circuit board to deliver variable, continuous power. When the inverter board fails, the microwave may produce no heat, reduced heat, or display an H97 or H98 error code. The inverter board is the most frequently replaced component in Panasonic microwaves, and we carry replacement boards for the most common models.
The magnetron in Panasonic inverter microwaves can also fail, though this is less common than inverter board failure. A failed magnetron typically presents as the microwave running normally with the turntable spinning and the display counting down, but the food not heating at all. In some cases, a failing magnetron may produce arcing, buzzing, or a burning smell. We test the magnetron with a multimeter to confirm failure before recommending replacement. The high-voltage capacitor in Panasonic microwaves is another component that can fail, and because capacitors store a lethal charge even when the microwave is unplugged, this is not a repair that should be attempted without professional training and equipment.
Panasonic refrigerators sold in the U.S. market are less common than their microwave products, but we do service them in Denver. Panasonic refrigerators that use inverter compressor technology can develop control board issues that cause the compressor to run continuously or not start at all. The inverter board regulates compressor speed, and when it fails, the refrigerator loses its ability to maintain proper temperature. Standard compressor relay failures also occur, presenting as a clicking sound followed by the compressor shutting off.
